Welkom bij Refill Bonaire, waar onze missie is om van Bonaire een duurzame Blue Bottle Destination te maken en het gebruik van eenmalige verpakkingen te verminderen. Ons doel is om het zwerfafval te verminderen, de carbon footprint te verlagen en het perfecte water van Bonaire te stimuleren. Daarnaast ondersteunen we lokale goede doelen en promoten we Bonaire als een echt duurzame vakantiebestemming. Met ons eerlijk geprijsde en duurzame souvenir, de Blue Bottle, dragen we bij aan een jarenlange en kwalitatief sterke uitstraling.
Erkenning voor duurzame prestaties
Deze week ontving Refill Bonaire de Blue Destination scan met een waardering van 8.8 als erkenning voor onze duurzame prestaties. Organisaties, bedrijven en overheden die twijfelen over duurzaamheid vinden bij ons een duidelijke oplossing. Door mee te doen aan Refill Bonaire en/of onze Blue Bottle’s te verkopen, maken zij een duidelijk statement naar zowel bezoekers als bewoners: ‘Hier drinken wij gewoon Awa di Boneiru!’ Onze waterkwaliteit is perfect, zonder enige toevoeging van chemicaliën, en wordt geproduceerd uit het omringende zeewater door WEB.
Gratis vullen van herbruikbare flessen
Refill Bonaire benadert bezoekers pro-actief en informeert hen met een infofolder over het gratis vullen van hun herbruikbare fles bij gastvrije ondernemingen en organisaties. We streven ernaar om op verschillende plekken op het eiland duidelijk zichtbare watertappunten en infoborden te realiseren. Het Wilhelminaplein en de cruisemarkt zijn onze toplocaties. Zo kunnen we cruisetoeristen informeren over Refill Bonaire, de watertappunten App en kunnen zij na aankoop hun Bonaire Bottle direct vullen met gewoon eerlijk drinkwater.
Duurzaamheid op scholen
Ook in Nederland loopt ons basisschool-drinkwater-project, waar we samenwerken met scholen om waterdrinken te stimuleren en afval te verminderen door het gebruik van kleine verpakkingen. Scholen ontvangen een watertappunt en alle kinderen krijgen hun eigen drinkfles met Sportdop. Dit soortgelijke project is nu ook op Bonaire in gang gezet.
Steun voor lokale dier- en natuurorganisaties
Bij Refill Bonaire ondersteunen we diverse lokale dier- en natuurorganisaties en bieden we ondersteuning aan lokale Cleanup acties. We kunnen onze projecten alleen uitvoeren dankzij de verkoop van de Blue Bottle’s aan bedrijven en organisaties, zoals STINAPA, BIA, Courtyard, Chogogo, Bonaire Infrastructuur, Cactus Blue, Bon Fit en Green Bikes Bonaire.

Refill Bonaire receives Blue Destination Certificate
It was already the goal in their ‘Free drinking water’ bid book: make Bonaire a Blue Bottle Destination and reduce the use of single-use packaging. But also reducing litter, lowering the carbon footprint, stimulating the perfect water on Bonaire was in their list. In addition, this would also lead to supporting local charities and promoting Bonaire as a truly sustainable holiday location. This would be possible in part by offering a fair priced and really usable souvenir with a long-lasting and high-quality appearance.
This week Refill Bonaire received the Blue Destination scan [rating 8.8] in recognition for their sustainable performance. Now there is no longer any barrier for doubting organisations, companies, and government. By participating in Refill Bonaire and/or selling the Blue Bottles, visitors and residents are given a clear statement. ‘Here we just drink Awa di Boneiru!’ Our water quality is perfect without the help or any addition of chemicals and is produced by WEB from the surrounding seawater.
In addition, Refill Bonaire proactively approaches visitors and informs them with an information folder about the free filling of their reusable bottle at hospitable companies and organizations. The wish of Refill Bonaire is to realize a clearly visible water tap and information board at various places on the island. The Wilhelminaplein and the cruise market is location no. 1 for them. This way, after arrival, cruise tourists can be informed about Refill Bonaire, the water tap points App. and, after purchase, they immediately fill their Bonaire Bottle with regular honest drinking water.
The primary school drinking water project is running in the Netherlands and a drinking bottle with a Sport cap has been put together for this purpose. Schools will receive a water tap and their own drinking bottle for all kids. For example, drinking water is encouraged and waste will immediately decrease from small packaging. A similar project has now also been set in motion for Bonaire.
In addition to supporting various local animal and nature organizations, local cleanup actions also receive support. Refill projects can only be carried out by selling the Blue Bottles to companies and organizations such as STINAPA, BIA, Courtyard, Chogogo, Bonaire Infrastructure, but also Cactus Blue, Bon Fit and Green Bikes Bonaire.
